MoCA Westport announces its annual arts celebration, The Surrealist Soirée, at MoCA Westport on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 7 PM. GET TICKETS NOW.

The event is a return to MoCA Westport’s long-standing tradition of presenting legendary celebrations in support of the arts and the Museum. MoCA Westport, formerly known as the Westport Arts Center, has been holding creative and memorable fundraiser events for over 20 years.

The Soirée is co-chaired by Westporters Deborah Murtaugh and Erika Miller.

Deborah Murtaugh has lived in Westport for over twenty years, and is deeply involved in the arts in Fairfield County. She has served as a Board Member at MoCA Westport for more than ten years, serving as President of the Board for two terms where she helped to champion the transition to the new location. She currently sits on the Museum’s Executive Committee.  Deborah also recently joined the Arts Advisory Board at the Quick Center for the Arts at Fairfield University.

Erika Miller has also been a resident of Westport for over twenty years. She served on the board of the Westport Arts Center where she helped to launch the WAC Gives Back initiative, created to provide meaningful arts experiences to surrounding underserved communities. In addition, she has also served on the board of Neighborhood Studios in Bridgeport, CT.

“MoCA has always been known for its creative and immersive events and we look forward to welcoming both familiar and new faces in the community to this dynamic event,” commented Murtaugh.

She added, “Party goers will have a chance to experience an atmosphere both mysterious and metaphysical. Guests are encouraged to tap into their subconscious while embracing the unexpected and unconventional in a playful environment of fun and fantasy.”

“After a few quiet years, we are beyond thrilled to host a fabulous evening celebrating the arts and MoCA with friends from near and far. An imaginative evening filled with creative indulgence and surprise feels long overdue for us all,” stated Miller.

The evening calls for imaginative decor, avant-garde performers and a live DJ.  Delicious fare will be provided by Marcia Selden Catering. Guests are encouraged to dress creatively in line with the evening’s surrealist theme.

The event will also feature an auction including one-of-a-kind experiences and unique items with all proceeds directly benefiting MoCA Westport. Additional information will be shared on prior to the event ensuring those not attending in person will have the opportunity to participate.

The Surrealist Soirée tickets start at $325 per person and are available beginning May 1, 2023. GET TICKETS NOW.

Tickets as well as all of the evening’s proceeds help to provide critical support for MoCA and the museum’s varied exhibitions and offerings. The Museum relies on support from patrons of the arts, as well as sponsorships, grants and other various fundraising efforts to support its programming.

MoCA Westport thanks Wealthspire Advisors and The Hofstetter Baron Group of Wells Fargo Advisors for serving as event sponsors, and Westport Lifestyle for serving as the exclusive media sponsor. The Museum also thanks Expand Media, Spencer Heyfron, The Party Partner, Inc, Salon Dada and Marcia Selden Catering for serving as event partners.
