Mindfulness for Parents - Tips and Tools to Foster Well-Being at Home ONLINE COURSE

In this 90-minute session, parents will learn tools and practices that they can immediately incorporate into their daily lives in order to: (1) manage stress and experience more calm, (2) be more present despite the endless to-do list and (3) better relate to their family.

Introducing our Weekly Winter Course Catalog featuring classes for all ages from toddler to adult. Classes run from the week of December 7th through the end of March.

Experience a range of creative offerings including jewelry design, 3D art, sketching and painting parties.  Both virtual and in-person options are available.  Registration is available online up to 4 weeks in advance and each course is offered as a one week commitment to give you and your family flexibility in scheduling. We will be adding classes as the weeks progress, so keep checking back each week to stay up to date on new course additions.

All safety protocols, including the wearing of masks, will be explicitly followed. Please review our Visit page for more details on our dedication to safety.

We are also pleased to offer private lessons with our talented and accredited art instructors. Private lessons can be conducted in-person or virtually. Contact our Director of Education,  Anne Greenberg, to learn more and schedule. 

Toddler Touchpoints

Toddler-and-parent art explorations in a new medium each week! Let your toddlers thrive through our engaging and entertaining toddler tinker time. Our parent/child art classes nurture your child’s creativity, self-expression, and crucial brain development.

Pre-K: Art and Nature

Explore the natural world through art! ‘Art and Nature’ combines both life science and art for children ages 3-5! Each week students will learn a new scientific fact by incorporating it with a creative activity. This class will allow both you and your child to be hands on with a wide variety of mediums.

Weekend Art Workshops

Drop off your children for an age-appropriate exciting art activity. This class requires participants to bring a smock or wear clothes that may get messy.

Drawing Still Life

Students will learn techniques in using line, value, shading, texture and perspective to develop strong compositions through observational drawing. Students are encouraged to take 4-6 weeks of this course and have the flexibility of signing up weekly in lieu of a 6 week continuous block.

Rebels of the Renaissance

Learn about some shocking and outrageous artists that lived during the Age of Enlightenment. Create decoupage self -portraits, discover how artists manipulated the eye by playing with scale and mimic the works of Arcimboldo, Hieronymus Bosch, and Palissy.

Let’s Sketch! (Online)

Learn techniques to make your sketching come to life! With only the use of pencils and paper, students will learn how to create graphite gradation, shading, hatching, cross-hatching, and depth of field.

Free Flow Abstract

Create a mixed media work through a process including sketching with charcoal, mixing paints, brush technique, and paint application.

Knitting (Online)

Learn the basics of knitting and have the power to create lots of great things! Learn casting on, knitting, purling, and binding off and apply your new skills to making a scarf, a bag, or a blanket.

Collage & Mixed Media

A fun and interactive collage class where students work with paper, crayons, paints and glue to create their homage to Artist Robert Rauschenberg or their own unique abstract work of art.

Painting Party

Need to get out of the house? Want to do something fun with friends? Join us for a unique experience combining music, dancing, and painting! Get creative and join us for a high-energy, stress-releasing night out. Participants will be required to wear masks and socially distance at all times. Participants may bring their own refreshments and snacks.

Knitting without a Knet (Online)

Intermediate knitting where we build on our basic skills and integrate some tricks into the mix. We'll learn how to decrease and increase stitches, make cables, and balls.

Exploring Your Art Scars (Online)

Releasing Your Inner Critic: Were you ever told as a child that your art was not good enough? Did the artist inside of you go into hiding after that? In this course, you will learn how to engage with your creative process and release the inner critic to reconnect with the artist inside of you!

Mother Love

In this two-part course, we will explore creative, process-based strategies to manage the unique challenges of being a mother today. Using mixed media we will create expressive pieces that help to process these challenges. Our goal is to learn how to best nurture ourselves as we care for others.

Painting Party

Alexander Technique

Proven helpful for musicians, actors, athletes; people seeking relief from back and neck pain, headaches, teeth grinding, breathing problems, and stress reactions.

Somatic Meditation

Learn to integrate your whole body, mind and spirit as we approach meditation as an essentially somatic discipline. Experience how to achieve deep rest and renewal during these challenging times.

A Beginner's Guide to Meditation

This session will introduce you to meditation at your own pace. Experience different types of meditation and discover tips and tricks on how to get started. Learn more about what to expect and what expectations you can let go of. And of course, we will meditate!

Mantra Meditation

This session will teach mantra meditation, helping you focus on your emotional and spiritual connection. Learn more about mantras, their meaning, and how to use them in your daily meditation practice.

Deep Relaxation

This session will focus on relaxing our physical body, releasing tension in each part individually. The Deep Relaxation technique helps our body relax, counteracts our biological stress response, and moves us to a state where we can witness and accept. It is best to lie down for this relaxation meditation. Please make sure to set up a comfortable space.

Sunday Yoga

This is a mixed level class that will help tone your body while enhancing balance, core strength and flexibility. Movement is guided by breath using purposeful movement to progress in and out of poses. Emphasis is on reducing physical and mental stress in the body while building strength and confidence with ease. Various options are given allowing the practitioner to move at their own pace and comfort level. All this while surrounded by incredible art at MoCA makes for a beautiful start to your Sunday.

Painting Party Online

Are you interested in having a painting party at home? Invite all your friends to join us online for a guided painting party. Painting kits containing a canvas, paint, and paintbrushes should be picked up from the front desk at MoCA as the cost of materials is included in the price of this course.

REFUND POLICY: To ensure the optimal experience, we schedule our teachers and purchase our materials in advance. As a non-profit organization, cancellations make it challenging for us to manage our enrollments and plan for programs. Refunds made by request are available up until 5 business days prior to the start of the program. 

There are no make-up days available for missed days due to illness, family obligations, etc.  

Once a program is underway, if a class day or full program is canceled due to concerns of staff or participant exposure to COVID-19, no refunds will be issued. There will be no refunds for days canceled due to weather concerns however, where possible, credits will be offered.
