3SummerCampThe Westport Arts Center is excited to announce its 2016 Summer Camp lineup. Registration for Westport Arts Center members begins February 1 and non-members can register beginning February 8, 2016.   Become a member any time to quality for early registration and camp savings.

The Westport Arts Center will offer ten, one-week sessions of fine arts camps for ages 5 -12.  All camps feature brand new, mixed-media art projects that invite creativity and experimentation while building technical skill.

New camp themes, including a nature-focused Sticks & Stones camp and a graphic- and merchandise-design focused Dynamic Designers camp, have been added to the schedule.  Previous camp favorites, including LEGO® Design, are back by popular demand and will feature all new projects.

To provide greater options, the Arts Center has also added the following benefits to Summer Camp 2016:

  • Extended Ages: Mini-camps are available during our summer kick-off week for Pre-K students while children ages 5+ can participate in subsequent fine arts camps.
  • More Flexibility: Need just a day of camp, a day off from the sun, or want to try out a certain theme? Families can now register for a partial week, or even a single day (space permitting, beginning 72 hours before a given camp).
  • Expanded Experience: For families looking for a longer afternoon arts experience, camp can be extended by one hour to 5 p.m.  Extended day sign-up is available for the full week or individual days.

“Summer camp is such an exciting time for us. At the Westport Arts Center, your child will be treated to camps that offer a little bit of everything. We offer opportunities to work with a wide range of materials and techniques,” stated Lindsay Heffernan, the Director of Education at the Westport Arts Center.

This year’s Summer Camp will be taught by Stephanie Lush-Mastriano, who brings extensive arts and design teaching experience to the Arts Center.

“Our camps get rave reviews because of the quality and expertise of our teaching staff and for our focus on technique and experimentation within the artistic process, rather than just the final product,” Heffernan added.

Each week of Westport Arts Center camp is $310 for non-members/$295 for members for morning sessions (ages 5 – 8) and $210 for non-members/$195 for members for afternoon sessions (ages 8 – 12).  A short week is available the week of July 4th. Mini-camps and pre-K camp fees are $160 for non-members/ $140 for members.
